My daughter of 10 has started surfing and loves it, I’m looking for a second hand board for her, any suggestions on what she should start with and where to go?

My suggestion would be to spend a bit of time going through and looking for something big for floatation and tough to take the knocks.

As for learning the best ideas would be Muizenberg and then Milnerton and Big Bay on the west coast. Good luck.

Hi there… I am looking for a surfboard & wetsuit & any other necessities one would need to start off.

I would like to surprise my boyfriend for his birthday because he really wants to start surfing.

Where can I get all of the above… at a decent package price?

I am in Somerset West – if that is needed 😉

The best place would be to pop to your nearest surf shop, perhaps start in Somerset Mall then head down to Strand. You won’t need a very expensive wetsuit as False Bay/Strand/Koel Bay will be warm(ish) most of the year, so that will help your budget. Speak to the sale person about getting a bigger board, a leash, some wax and some sunscreen too. If you want to save some cash, look on Gumtree or on the Cape Ads for some second-hand boards. Awesome birthday gift!
