Surf Report

There is no surf today, and it was really low tide. Seeming as the water was so still and clear I took a walk over the rocks and took some pictures, which I will be adding to the description of the spot.

You can see below the rocks that you have to swim over at high tide. You can just about see there is a thin channel in the pool that looks like an “L”, which is impossible to aim for in any occasion.

Rocks at off the wall

Below are the rocks that lie in front of the take off spot. Luckily there is normally a current that sweeps in front of the wall which leaves you in the channel. Just hope that you don’t snag some kelp or hit a rock on the way.

As you can see the swell is tiny today, Llandudno will most likely have a wave today.

Lost FCS Fin Found at Off the Wall.

When I was taking a walk over the rocks at low tide at off the wall (see the latest post), I found this fin. If it’s yours, or if you have the other two fins, email me and it will be returned.

It is the left fin, if you are looking at the bottom of the board with the nose pointing away from you, and is an FCS fin. The plugs look a little bit scratched, nothing major and the fin itself is fine.

Sunny Cape Town, but no swell

Well, I finished some work today for Apurimac Media in Cape Town and as it was a sunny day I decided to grad a subway and check the surf.
Take a look at the gorgeous weather!

There is not much swell at the moment, it would probably be a good day to go snorkelling if the water wasn’t so cold!

Quick Surf Check Mon, 2 Oct, 06

The wind seems south easterly which makes thermo’s and off the wall pretty much directly off shore.
Thermo’s:
The surf was too small for thermo’s today, but general conditions were quite glassy and offshore.
Off The Wall:
Surf was a bit small and the tide as a bit high, but there might be a wave when the tide starts going lower (after 11:35am). The wind was offshore and the only bumps on the waves was the backwash from the wall.

Misty Surf in Cape Town

This morning at off the wall was onshore and misty. The sets were taking about 10 minutes to go through and the tide was being weird. Most of the waves were really lame, but one okay one came through.

I also drove over to Thermopylae, to see if any of the sets were breaking big enough, but they were not.

There was a big mist over cape town this morning that is still lingering around. The mist has cleared from the city bowl, but is still lingering over the Atlantic coast, causing onshore conditions. As soon as the sun comes out the wind should switch offshore again. See this panorama picture I took at Greenpoint Stadium. You can see the mist looming over the sea, and the clear skies over Cape Town city bowl. Lets hope it clears before everyone gets off work!

Off the Wall in the afternoon

I headed back to Off The Wall, thinking that the rising tide would have helped the drastic situation but I missed it! I was about an hour too late because the tide had already risen just a little bit too much. The other problem was that the tide was still coming in!
I jumped in regardless, and had a couple of good waves. The waves deteriorated and the wait between sets was about 15 minutes!

Small and Sucking dry over the rocks

After I came out of the meeting, I had to check the surf. The tide was a bit low, and Off the Wall was sucking dry and exposing that rock we all try to avoid! More photos to come from the afternoon surf check and session!

Sunny in Cape Town

I had a meeting yesterday morning, so I couldn’t check the surf first thing in the morning but I took this snap after I came out of my meeting.
Normally when it is this sunny, and when there is no wind, there tends to be no swell. So we’ll see what happened in a second.

Off The Wall – Mouille Point – Cape Town

Off the wall this morning at 0900; I walked up the path to find about 6 mazzive set waves that completely maxed out off the wall. This was the last wave in the set, the only one that didn’t run too fast. Low tide was making the waves very hollow and the rocks very exposed! I think I’ll jump in after lunch when the tide is a bit higher. See you there.Off The Wall - I'm going for a surf!
