Table Mountain

January 2nd, 2007

I did a little trip over to Milnerton, to see a friend, and whilst I was waiting I took a little photo of Table Mountain. Looks pretty good aye?

Here is a little photo from the New Years, looking down into Llandudno.

Surf Report – This morning

December 29th, 2006

Well, it was a windy and wet night, and when I woke up there was wind and mist everywhere – not a recipe for a good surf.

So I went back to bed.

The weather is nicer now, clear and sunny, not a lot of wind b ut there is just a little bit there.

More surf checks tomorrow I reckon.

Llandudno, Christmas Surf

December 28th, 2006

I braved the Llandudno Christmas crowd this morning, and luckily got there before 10am – so I managed to get a car park pretty easily.

I didn’t check the surf before I jumped in. I was expecting an hour paddle in a swimming pool, but Llandudno produced some nice little, about 2 feet, rights and lefts, with the wedge making things interesting.

The surf at Llandudno this morning officially breaks my one wave session streak I was on and I am happy to say that I surfed really well.

Here are the shots from the surf today. The waves were better when I got in, and deteriorated as the tide came in.

Glenn Beach Surf

December 28th, 2006

I had a fairly long surf at Glenn Beach, but the waves were pretty closey outy, with rips everywhere. After about an hour and a half I think I had five waves or something stupid! This whole wave count/surf session ratio is getting pretty bad. I think I am going to check out Llandudno this morning.

On the way out of the surf I spotted this on the floor. It reads “LOCALS ONLY”. Personally I don’t feel Glenn Beach is Localized at all. To be honest the banks have been pretty bad recently and the people I have talked to are convinced the banks have been bad for about 2 years now. Which would suggest that any local of Glenn Beach would be a little bit coocked, surfing bad waves all the time.

Rocklands – Sea Point

December 21st, 2006

I had another 1 wave surf at Rocklands today. I held out on my last one wave surf at Rocklands, mainly because the surf was too small to write in for, but today it was much better.

With 4 people out, and shoulder high sets, the waves were breaking quite nicely. Unfortunately, the sets were coming through every 10-15 minutes and they were only 1 wave sets. So in 45 minutes, with all the sharing of the waves, I only got one. One nice one though.

I’ll do a dedicated page on Rocklands next week sometime, and I’ll snap a picture too.

Glenn Beach, Camps Bay

December 21st, 2006

This is the first post about Glenn Beach. I drove all the way through Green Point, Sea Point and Clifton, but nothing seemed to have a wave.
Off the wall was too high, and nothing was breaking. Rocklands wasn’t working with a 1ft closeout. Queens was far too small. To be honest I didn’t catch a glimpse of Clifton.
Glenn Beach didn’t really have a wave either, but a dude at the beach said that Llandudno was heaving and not to bother.

The surf is getting pretty cold now, but the warm air temperature helps a bunch. Here is the pic from yesterday:

Surf Report

December 15th, 2006

The surf yesterday was a little bigger, the waves seemed to have been pushed up a bit by the onshore winds that started, making the surf roughly 2 feet on the sets.
A bit messier, but fun none the less.

Llandudno Surf Report and Picture

December 14th, 2006

Here is a little picture of the surf at Llandudno from yesterday.

The surf was about 1.5 feet on the sets, but it was nice to get some exercise and get wet.

Clive Get’s His Fin Back

December 14th, 2006

After Clive lost his fancy new fin, on his second or third surf, he was pretty gutted.  He was touting the fins as “the best fins ever” and was gutted when he lost it at Off The Wall.
I bumped into Clive at Llandudno yesterday and managed to give him back the fin, and take a cheesy photograph.

Clive is reunited with his fin he lost at off the wall

Sorry for the cheesy caption – it had to be done!
